οι αμάσητοι

Meaning "the unchewed" in Greek, this mixed media pulled porcelain project was exhibited as part of a group exhibition (Tirsdagsforum Presents: ON IT 2021).

At the core of this arrangement is an ironic reversal of materials: plastic vessels as fine tableware, against pulled, seemingly discarded porcelain. Here, the most elegant, pure material is instead viewed as chewed, macerated waste. The combination of these items also place the pieces in a domestic setting: a dinner party where everyone "chews" on their words carefully before speaking.

Elgin Transpositions

This project was a deep dive into the history of The Parthenon Marbles (or Elgin Marbles), by recreating the Elgin Throne in marbled stoneware. Investigating: marbling, heritage and cultural debates on ownership.

I marbled two stoneware clays by rolling layer upon layer on top of each other. From this lump I used a knife to carve out the shape of the throne, thus creating a copy. After this, I collected the organic shavings and fired them individually (some glazed). These fragments were then arranged on a real marble slab. This decision was to mirror the fragmented history and nuances of the current debate.

These pieces, along with my poster design, were exhibited in my first group exhibition 'New Artefacts' (2021) at Resepsjonsgalleriet.
