Artist Bio

Investigating material thresholds and cultural transition, Iliana Papadimitriou (1995) creates experiential ceramic installations and sculptures. Born Greek and British, raised in Greece, and currently based in Norway, her work is shaped by a Mediterranean cultural inheritance and the lived experience of navigating between languages, geographies, and identities. Grounded in a dual background in academic philosophy and ceramics, Papadimitriou has two bachelor degrees and two masters degrees in each subject, respectively (institutions include: King’s College London and Oslo National Academy of the Arts).

Papadimitriou’s practice foregrounds ceramic tactility, embodied perception, and spaces of passage. Through interactive and sensorial approaches, Papadimitriou invites viewers to engage attentively with material and atmosphere, positioning them as active participants. Her work spans intimate immersive installations and large-scale public art, with recent projects recognized by the Norske Kunsthåndverkere Student Prize (2025) and Furuset Torg Nord (2026). Engaging with ceramics as both material and conceptual carrier, Papadimitriou’s work contributes to contemporary dialogues that expand the role of clay as a critical, culturally situated, and socially engaged medium.
